Brethren of Old Well Lodge: It is with great pride and pleasure, I assume the station of Worshipful Master. I thank each of you whole heartedly for placing your trust in me as well as thank all of the brothers who have graciously accepted their officer’s positions for the ensuing term. Together in unity we will will work very diligently, to continue to build our lodge in addition to experiencing a year filled with fun. Those of you who know me well, understand that fellowship and good times must be a primary consideration. No one attends lodge unless it is truly an enjoyable experience. My plan is to hold varied as well as exciting events in the coming year, some of which will be joint ventures with our brethren of St. John’s # 6. There is a good chance that the two lodges of Norwalk will finally coexist under one roof, which in effect will greatly benefit both of our lodges. The bonds of friendship and mutual reliance hopefully will deepen. Someday, here in Norwalk, I trust we will truly become “One Society of Friends and Brothers.” This is indeed a pivitol year, for there is much at stake. We need to remain focused on the task at hand.
Proficiency in ritual is paramount, for it is surely the glue that binds our fraternity together and differentiates us greatly from all other organizations. I hope to again instill a pride and precision that was the hallmark of Old Well degree work sometime ago. I ask you all to join with me in this quest for excellence. Most all of us who are reading this message are indeed blessed and most fortunate. Let us remember, that at this joyous time of year, there are individuals and families alike who are in serious peril and difficulty. This is after all the season of giving. Never cease to remember my brothers, the words from your first degree while standing there divested of all metals , I paraphrase, “should you ever find a brother in like circumstances, you are to contribute as liberally to his relief…” These are not mere and empty words my brothers, but who we in fact, truly are..
May God Bless You All,
Steven G Protz, PM - OWL 108
